Melbourne Disc Golf Club
The Melbourne Disc Golf Club (MDGC) is a not-for-profit organisation, founded in 2008, with the aims to:
- create a local community of players
- to spread awareness of this enjoyable, challenging and environmentally responsible sport
The MDGC is managed by a voluntary committee and is made up of annual fee-paying members. Membership is open to all ages and abilities, with current members ranging from 12 to 60 years old.
The Club has seen continual growth over the last 8 years proving the passion and hard-work pays off. Having such a fun sport to promote doesn’t hurt either!
Handicapped League Days
The MDGC holds a monthly handicapped League Day at the Ruffey Lake Course on the third Saturday of every month Feb-Nov from 9am (AM Round) & 12 noon (PM Round). Please refer to our Events Calendar. Members play for free, and non-members are more than welcome to enter into the competition (first competition round is free!) and can borrow equipment as required. Come along and find out why disc golf is one of the fastest growing sports in the world!
Come and Try Sessions
From 8:30-9:30am & 11:30am-12:30pm on each League Day, community members of all ages and abilities, prospective Club members, and/or new members are welcome to ‘Come and Try’ the sport (completely free of charge) under the guidance of experienced Club members and players, and with equipment loans.
The Club also works in tandem with other Disc Golf Clubs to organise and promote special Disc Golf Tournament Events each year, such as the the Annual Victorian Open, Melbourne Cup 2016 and Kingston City Classic 2016.
Various complimentary Social events are organised for members throughout the year, such as Twilight Rounds and/or BBQ’s. This is a great way to build a sense of community and chat to players who you might not play alongside during competitive rounds.
The MDGC is managed by a voluntary committee of members, who meet every quarter to plan special events, oversee club financials, equipment maintenance and initiatives to promote the sport. For current committee members see the Honour Roll. Members who would like to express interest in joining the committee are welcome to contact us.
