One of the great things about disc golf is it is such an inclusive sport.  There are no age barriers.  Everyone can have a go.  It is also a great family activity.  There are not too many sports where parents and children can play side by side.

MDGC assisted the team from Recreation Activity Design and the Banyule City Council with a ‘come and try’ day last weekend at Warringal Park in Heidelberg.  This is a great park which already hosts many sporting facilities. We are hopeful that it may become the site of Melbourne’s next disc golf course.

Despite the rain many families and individuals from the Banyule community came along to give disc golf a try, to find out more about the sport and to support the proposed course.

Just look at these happy faces.  There were children as young as three years old having a go and loving it!  Perhaps they will be future champions of the sport.

Banyule City councillors were there to hear feedback from local residents, answer any general questions and enjoy a game.  Their commitment to community is great to see.
